Livening up Commercial Law Training!
A very large retail company wanted to liven up it’s commercial law training workshops and make them much more interactive, interesting, and fun for participants.
 |
Create a high impact opening activity that would help participants to understand the content of the workshops at a very high level, and whet their appetites for learning more on the rest of the day. |
 |
Bring “heavy” subjects to life for the participants and make them really relevant to their roles within the company. |
 |
Have fun with contract law, intellectual property rights, and competition law!!! |
We created a series of games that pitched participants into tough situations with targets to achieve whilst trying to avoid the legal pitfalls that we placed in their way. Activities included:
- Contract law game – teams try to sign up a contract with a new supplier, terminate an existing supplier, and vary the terms of an existing contract. It’s a race against the clock and the other teams, and there are legal problems everywhere!
- IPR game – linked to the contract law game and highlighting the dangers of signing a contract with a company that then infringe every intellectual property right going!
- Competition law – where we recreate a courtroom drama as one team tries to prosecute the other over alleged competition law infringements.
Participants have been overwhelmingly positive about the interactive, fun, and informative nature of these games. They agree that once they have played these games they are much more motivated and interested to learn on the workshop as they fully recognise the impact of getting some of this stuff wrong!
“Oh my god, I’m sure I get some of this stuff wrong in my job today!” |
“Everybody should go through this – it’s scary!” |
