Garry's Biography
Garry was born in Cleethorpes but in all other respects is really quite normal. By not mentioning a lifetime spent supporting Grimsby Town FC he managed to slip into Warwick University where he graduated with a BA (Hons) in Politics, a subject he now acknowledges he has used “virtually never” ever since.
Garry entered the world of work through the Sainsbury’s Graduate Manager scheme, and can still occasionally be seen straightening cans and tidying up shelves when he goes shopping. Six years at Sainsburys saw him move through the Computing side of the retail business, emerging into a Technical Support management career at DEC, who became Compaq and then HP (all after Garry left, he hastens to add). Having spent another six years managing technical support and customer service teams Garry moved to Mercury Communications, another company that no longer exists, though again Garry is keen to point out that that all happened after he left here too.
Garry spent a couple of years managing a team of account managers focussed on ensuring technical support excellence for large Corporate accounts, before moving to Microsoft where he spent nine years managing just about every function within the customer service and technical support organisation. For somebody who has spent so much of his career in technical support his lack of technical ability is truly noteworthy.
Married for 230 years now, Garry and his wife Terry live in Hampshire with their son, daughter, and mortgage!
